Light Deprivation
We believe that there are two types of cannabis: slow florigen release and quick florigen release. These two types are typically associated with indoor and outdoor cannabis production.
The advantage that indoor facilities have when growing cannabis is their ability to manipulate the amount of exposure the plants receive to light, thus quickly releasing more florigen to initiate flowering. The reason outdoor facilities generally have a harder time producing the same high calyx to leaf ratio, is their inability to control the night cycle of the plant, thus resulting in slower florigen release.
Light deprivation is a growing technique that we use to mimic the effect that indoor facilities are able to achieve, while growing sustainably.
The sudden release of florigen, through the quick transition to longer nights using light deprivation, creates a high calyx to leaf ratio and higher terpene and cannabinoid levels. This is what makes our sustainably grown cannabis the quality you expect and different from the rest.
